Die Jungen Konzertisten
Die Jungen Konzertisten (DJK) is a chamber choir formed in the Spring of 2012 under the Die Konzertisten Charity Institute Apprentice Scheme.
Die Konzertisten Charity Institute believes that nurturing the next generation of musicians is important not only to its choir, Die Konzertisten, but also to the Hong Kong music scene. The Apprentice Scheme was introduced by the Die Konzertisten Charity Institute with the aim of cultivating a group of talented young singers with outstanding musicianship and providing them with extensive exposure to music making at a professional level.
In July 2012, DJK made its debut performance in the “Amazing Grace Charity Choral Concert” organized by the Haven of Hope Christian Service. In September of the same year, the choir performed in the Choral Workshop and Finale Concert of the Counterpoint Music Festival 2012 organized by Die Konzertisten Charity Institute, receiving guidance from the internationally renowned conductor Stephen Layton.
DJK had its first annual concert “Around the World in 80 minutes” in July 2013, performing challenging choral pieces by composers from all over the world. In September 2013, DJK performed Handel’s epic oratorio “Israel in Egypt” with Die Konzertisten under the direction of Jonathan Cohen in the Finale Concert of the Counterpoint Music Festival 2013. At Christmas in both 2012 and 2013, DJK performed in the “Christmas Concert in the Park” organized by RTHK4.
