French composer
Maurice Duruflé
(1902-1986)

Die Konzertisten Charity Institute commemorates the 30th death anniversary of French composer Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986) by presenting a concert featuring his exquisite Requiem, his virtuosic organ works, and other heart-stirring vocal and choral works composed by him and his French contemporaries.

Duruflé was a perfectionist; he only published thirteen works, and his Requiem is widely recognised as the most important one. Using plainsongs as the basis and Faure’s Requiem as the model, Duruflé adopted a restrained approach and weaved expressive melodies with sensuous harmonies. The result was a sensational work in spiritual tranquility, contemplating rest and peace.
